Dr. Betty Iu, 92 Retired OB/GYN Served Chinatown for Decades
For decades, Dr. Betty Iu cared for generations of women as one of Chinatown’s most respected obstetrician-gynecologists.
When she underwent cataract surgery with Dr. Raymond Fong more than 20 years ago, today’s multifocal lenses were not yet available. With nearly -10.00 diopters of myopia, her goal was simple: to restore functional vision and maintain her independence.
Today, at 92 years old, she continues to enjoy life without glasses. Her vision remains approximately 20/50 for distance and J2 for reading. She can read small print, stay active, and enjoy everyday life without spectacles.
More than 20 years after surgery, she’s still enjoying the everyday moments that clear vision makes possible.
